What dose he mean by open?

I have known this guy for 4 years now and we have been really great friends. yesterday I texed him and asked him if he liked me ... he said Idk he used to but he out about I had a bf and now he's just open ... he knows it's over with my "X" bf .... what do you think he mean by open?
