What is the name of the holder of the logs in the fireplace while they are burning?

I have never used a fireplace, and when I went to look for one the place only had log storage holders that didn't actually go in the firepace. I'm confused and don't know how to describe what I'm looking for or even where to get one. I don't think there are any fireplace specialty shops in Southen California, but I could be mistaken.
