Help figuring out a PS1 game?!?

I remember renting a PS1 game when I was little and I'm going to try my best to describe it and hopefully someone can help me figure out what it was. It's one of those games that I was too young to understand or beat it and I want to see it now. Anyway, you play a middle aged guy with a beard, I think, and you wake up in a science complex/facility of some sort (kind of looks like the inside of the Pentagon hallways on a bright and sunny day). I'm pretty sure the character doesn't know who he is or where he is, and the game plays like a resident evil type of game in the controls. For instance when you go to a new room it loads and you play with weird camera angles messing you up. Early on you meet/run into a small robot that helps you out a little. I vivedly remember there being like no enemies (or guns [yet]) because it's a puzzle type game and I remember being killed by a shark in a room that was half flooded because the shark tank (that took up the whole room) broke. If you have any suggestions or answers please let me know. Again, it was kind of popular when it came out, but I never beat it and I never hear about it so it must have not been that good.
